I Don't Get it!

Matthew 11:2 "When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples 3 to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

Happy Sunday friends and family! You ever been so busy doing life that you realize that you're not actually living? I've been like that lately... doing life but forgetting to enjoy the journey. We all have those moments when we get to the end of the week and we're like "It's already Friday!" That's a perfect example of doing life but not living... We're only given one life, so don't waste it, ok...

I recently reread the story of when Jesus was announced to the world by John the Baptist (John 1:29-31) John saw him coming and shouted "Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" The rest is history... if John made this statement, why in the world did he ask the question in the Scripture referenced? John the Baptist was the one that introduced Jesus to the world but here he is asking "Are you the one or should we look for someone else?" Well, let me tell you why... John was in prison and living on death row when he asked that question. I'm sure he was frustrated because he had done everything he was supposed to do and here he was about to be executed and Jesus isn't putting the guards to sleep and saving him...

In life you can do everything the right way and live with a moral compass that would make Our Heavenly Father proud, but find yourself on the wrong end of blessings. I love Jesus's response... "Blessed is he who is not offended in me" Which means do not doubt your faith because you are in a place that you didn't expect to be in... Only a little while ago you were the very witness of His greatness and now you are in doubt because of your current situation. Believe me, He loves you and He will make all things new! Pray for wisdom and understanding during the difficult times and He will hook you up, I have questioned Him on many occasions and once I stop licking my wounds and feeling sorry for myself... I almost hear Him saying, "Ok are you done with your pouting? Now listen!" We aren't meant to understand the what and why, we are called to trust His what and why... let's do that and see where He takes us.

I love you all... Poppy Todd

P.S. "This will be my last devotion for a little while as I settle some things in my life... I am going to have these made into a daily devotional and published. I will hare the info with you when that happens so you will get your copy."

"No one can take your dreams away from you but YOU!"
